Pergine Valsugana is located right between Fersina Valley and the Valsugana Valley, woods and meadows surround all the area finally meeting the mountain slopes. The Fersina river, flows in the near distance, and it runs down the Alpine mountain range Agorai, to its final destination: the Adige river. Surrounding the small town are many mountains like Marzola Mountain and Cimarlo Mountain, or still the Vigolana mountain, Panarotta, the Gronlait, the Fravort mountains and in the far distance can be seen the peaks of the Dolomites of Brenta and the Paganella. The city has ancient roots, archeological prehistorical sites have been discovered around the city heights, but medieval origins are more probable. The city is full of historical traditions and artistic wonders and all belonging to different ages. In Pergine there’s still a Renaissance borough, in Tomaso Maier street, and small luxurious palaces belonging to the nineteenth century. The castle on the Tegazzo hill overlooks the entire city. Erected in the year 845 circa, it was originally for a military use, later in time, it was reinvented as a luxurious mansion. Today,it has become a hotel and a restaurant. In the old city center there are numerous buildings of historical and architectural importance. For instance, Tomelin Mansion, dating back to the end of the seventeenth century or Montel Mansion, charming construction of the middle eighteenth. Many others are worth to be praised such as Gentili Crivelli Mansion. Nevertheless, Pergine is a lively community that doesn’t lack assess. There are theatrical meeting for young and old, also art and paint exhibitions. Several events take place in town along the year, from film events to sophisticated music concerts. The tonw’s museums have been created by the great work and passion of volunteers. The listed museums are: museum of agricultural and craft tools of Canezza-Portolo community, the local band museum, Sarso’s Hydro electric power plant museum and the interesting School Museum. Pergine is also a good start point and within easy reach for visits around the mountains, which they give a chance for many excursions either of low intensity degree, or to reach Caldonazzo Lake or Levico. A great fun is to ride mountain-bike along the cycling paths passing by Fersina Valley, taking a horse ride or practicing nordic walking, or rafting, and many others.
